What will I do to help?
To start, drink (good) beer at participating venues. Venues, that is, that are non-smoking. Japan is still behind the times in this area but there are more and more non-smoking craft-beer bars popping up, or, restricting smoking hours, e.g. , Cheers in Yokohama, The Nakameguro Taproom, and The Aldgate in Shibuya.
My Favorite Beer
Currently, Jever for pilsner, Ginka Kogen for wheat, Rogue American Amber for amber ale, Lion Stout (Sri Lanka) for stout, and so on.
My Favorite Book

Hi Phil,

Thanks for your message.

This site's focus is on the Beers for Books events, so we leave the specific beer tasting stuff to the other sites. Two places which would be good for commenting on beers are Jibeer.com. That seems to be where most of the craft beer geeks in Japan congregate.

We missed you at the Fishmarket Taproom last weekend in Numazu. It was a great time.

Do you know about the December to Remember beer event Saturday afternoon 12/12? They have an AMAZING lineup of beers. I won't be there as I have my bonenkai that night and can't show up buzzed, but otherwise I'd go for sure.

Hope all is well with you.

Cheers,

Gary

Hi Phil,

Setting up a Ning is really easy. Making it function just right and look nice is a lot harder. It takes some expertise/experience so someone who kindly volunteered for B4B helped set up this one. It would've taken me many hours to figure out how to do everything myself. I do recommend Ning, just be sure to read the Terms & Conditions in relation to Ning's rights to your content.

Hi Philip,
Thanks for the lead on Germany's Jever - I don't think I've had the pleasure yet. Is it available in Tokyo? I hope to meet you at the next event.
With best regards,
Kerry
