Tokyo's many technology-focused community groups are kindly coming together on December 17th to support Room to Read's tech initiatives via their "Tokyo's Biggest Tech Party Ever" event, a chance for members of different tech communities to mix, mingle, and celebrate the end of the year.
This will be the first ever "Beers for Bytes", a new angle on the "Beers for Books" concept. The money will be donated to Room to Read’s pilot wireless computer lab projects in Nepal and Vietnam, as well as other tech infrastructure for childhood literacy projects in developing nations.
For those of you new to B4B, the concept is simple: For every drink you have, 100 yen will be donated to Room to Read and that buys one treasured local-language book for kids in places like Nepal, Cambodia, Zambia, etc. Have a drink, create a book!
There will also be a fun raffle drawing to raise more money for Room to Read with great prizes from Kimono Wine Bar, Sun Microsystems, Poken, and a Wikereader from Vevo. Don't miss it! (And don't forget to RSVP...details below). :-)
