South Dakota's First Beers for Books
We hosted the first Beers for Books event in South Dakota at the Alcester Steakhouse. This was done in conjunction with International Book Giving Day on February 14, 2013. A lot of people asked about what it was and were very interested. We only made $87, but it's our first attempt and we will try again. The owners of the Steakhouse, Jeff and Shelly Brown, were very happy to be part of this international day.

This is fantastic news Kathleen! Thanks for being a pioneer and planting the Beers for Books flag in South Dakota in support of Room to Read. Every single book makes an impact and that will fund 87 more books for kids in places that have very limited resources for educational materials. Those books will go into a library with a Room to Read trained librarian or teach who can help kids gain literacy skills--a lifelong gift. Thanks again for making it happen! :-) Gary
