What are you doing on a Monday night besides thinking about getting through the week?! Here's a reason to celebrate...
Wnen: Room to Read is hosting an event on March 8. It's a Monday night, and you know you want to unwind with a belgian beer or a glass of wine so you might as well come out and do it with 120 of your friend's friends!
Why?: For every glass of wine you drink, Room to Read gets 4 dollars. For every beer, we get 2 dollars! We hope to raise a couple of thousand dollars to donate to the construction of a children's library and to purchase local language books.
Who: All the cool people in the Bay Area who LOVE to turn booze into books! (like you)
How: Show up in your cutest work outfit, order a beverage and some fries (or other YUMMY food) and start changing the world one drink at a time!
What: Room to Read...
For those of you who don't know about Room to Read, here's a little bit about it. The organization has five core activities: we partner with villages to build schools; we build libraries; we publish and are one of the largest publishers of local language and bilingual children's books; we establish computer and language labs, and we provide scholarships to girls.
You may be especially interested to know that Room to Read, among its successes, has established over 5,000 bilingual, locally staffed libraries throughout developing countries all over the world including India, Cambodia, Zambia, South Africa, Vietnam, Brazil and others. Additionally, Room to Read sponsors the education of girls through our long-term girls scholarship programs. RTR has sponsored 4,000 scholarships since its inception!
Put this on your calendar now. Bin 38 is a cool spot, and Room to Read is a truly phenomenal organization.
See you there!
